my DIC is set to lock when placed in park.not key off.
also i noticed today while i am driving i apply the brake i hear a click from the console .. the same sound you hear when you press the brake so you can go from park to drive.
all i can say about my prob is that the car does not know it is out of park. so i need to know what part to change, i hope that is all that is.....neutral safety switch?

Sounds like it probably is the neutral safety switch. I haven't messed with them much, but it is usually located right around the shifter area.
GM PART # 24219476
CATEGORY: Transmission Saftey/Start Warning
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com has them for $47.53
I was thinking, before you actually buy the neutral safety switch and replace it, you may want to get into the shifter and make sure there are no loose wires or anything as well just to make sure something didn't come loose. I doubt this is would be the case, because if something had come off I think the loop would be stuck open and the car would not start; but it is better just to make sure before you actually start spending money to replace things.

thanks, that is something i thought it might be.
when the car is in park i can no longer turn the headlights off. it seems to me the car does not know what range the tranny is in.
i am going to change the front pads on sat with a buddy and at the same time we are going to take a look at the shifter.
i will keep you posted.

On friday the prob went away and has not been back since. I am sure it wi ll come back one day.
it might have something to do with the fact it is minus 29 C outside right now.
i did change the front pads and rotors on sat and that went well.
