Bad ball joint, or?

07 SS S/C.

If I grab the tire at 3 and 9, there's a ton of play.

If I take the wheel off, the ball joint moves but everything else seems good.

Everywhere I read says tie rods at 3 and 9, but mine look good. Zero play in them.

So I guess my question is, what else would allow a ball joint to move around like this when wiggling at 3 and 9, other than a bad ball joint itself?

I'm just going to replace it. Literally nothing else has any play in it.

3 and 9 are usually steering related. 12 and 6 more the ball joint. That's been my experience.

MOOG said it shouldn’t have play like that. Guys on BITOG said it’s bad, as did some random guy who commented on the video. I also already ordered the part lol.

Ball joint is definitely bad, should not have play.

Looks like you did just ball joints. Did you cut them out with the control arms still in the car?

I had a shop replace them years ago, so they were bolted in.

You probably could do the factory ones with the control arm still attached. You'd just have to make sure you could get a drill and air chisel in there.
