Badmab header problem with top nuts. Need help!

I just emailed brad, but its the weekend, and I have my car tore apart, and I ran into this problem. I cannot fit the nuts on the top side of the 1st and 4th primaries. There is not enough clearance between those primaries and studs. Anyone run into this b4? Plus, the welds are so close to the top 4 holes directly over the primaries, the nuts will be sitting at an angle. See attached pic, but the header is rotated, so the bottom holes in the pic are actually the top ones.

Here is how angled the end primaries are, angling to the left (top):

Here's a closeup of how close the holes are to the studs:

After some thought, I was able to put those nuts on by angling the header downwards, but after putting the lower nuts on, and thus bringing the header back up and level with the head, I could not even get a socket on those top nuts! So I cant even torque this thing down...

Here's another pic, showing how close the top holes (well, 1, 3, and 4) are to their respective primary:

How did you torque the nuts?

If it was as simple as having to use a wrench instead of a socket, that would not be a problem at all. However, your bigger problem as you mention is that there is not enough clearance between the weld and the bolt hole for the nut to sit flat.

That's a problem. And I hate to say so, but that means that header is of poor design. They should have known better. Cheap parts cost you in the end. Go with Hahn.

Are you talking the Hahn shorty header? $525 for that beast! Ouch.

It's possible this won't leak either. I just can't install it properly! I'm not gonna guess with a regular wrench how much 106 inch pounds is, or whatever. That's BS.

Never used a torque wrench on a manifold like that, and they don't leak.

If you tighten it down properly, it will be fine. 106 inch pounds is barely tight anyway.

Here's a better pic of the situation:

I ended up sending that one back and finding a brand new badmab, but from an older run, here at css from noorjariri, that had primaries coming straight up off of the header flange.

Both headers had warped flanges, both head and dp flanges. I had to sand em down. The ZZP catted dp's flanges were perfect.
