need into trunk
ok, I have a problem. the other night someone got into my car cause i left it unlocked. There wasn't anything in there except the keyless entry with a key to it. They didn't take the car just the keys??? Instead they locked it with keyless remote. So I used my spare key to open the car but this set the alarm off. Couldnt stop the alarm. Even started the car and alarm continues to go off. So I figured I would unhook the battery for two reasons. To hopefully clear the security and also incase they attempt to come back with my keys. Well my key doesnt let me in the trunk!! 06 cobalt. I can get inside the car, but not the trunk. Without power I cannot open trunk, without opening the trunk, cannot get power back. Is there a way to lay down the seats jfrom the inside or open the trunk manually
? please help. thank you.
? please help. thank you.

dont understand why your key wont open your trunk, i thought they were just standard locks not electronic locks. Either way, what you will need to have done (after you get your car mobile again) is have your dealership erase the programmed keyfobs (and passkey for the actual key itself) and have them reprogram the fob you have and key you have so that it renders the ones they stole useless. The car's computer system can store up to 10 of each (keyfobs and physical keys).

Thanks so much for this thread! I was in the middle of a hotly contest football game when my daughter calls from her dorm room at UAB and says her car is dead and her key will not come out. I thought she was nuts but this thread explains it ALL! The Campus Security got her started and made it home.
How crazy is it that you cannot get your key out with a dead battery.
Thanks again, all is well.

I dont think you understood what I was saying. Regardless of him having keys relearned to start that car, the stolen keys will still unlock the doors. Passlock is only for the ignition, it wouldnt stop the stolen keys from letting the thieves into the car to steal whatever is in it.

locked out update
Alright everyone. I haven't dealt with the car issue yet. Its not my daily driver so I have kinda neglected the fact cause i been super busy. So its still locked and sitting there. I read someones post about hooking up to the posts under the hood. it did not work. With the battery unhooked the circuit cannot complete and even though i am putting power on the line it still wont function. Good idea though, thanks. as to the trunk not letting me in, its the proper key to the lock so I do not know why it even turns the cylinder, just doesnt unlock it. leads me to believe that the locks are not "manual" in that manner. I have read and heard others having the same problem. The dealer ship will do it for me. And they want over three hundred for it. Thats just silly to me. I reinspected and have another idea. There are trunk releases on the lid of the trunk. The rear seats have no barrier at the seems going down the middle. So I plan to take a broom handle and fish for the trunk release on the lid for entry. wish me luck, and I will let you know how that works for me. As to the stolen fobs and key, I do not want it stolen. but without large expense, i cannot prevent them from enter my car with out that key, I would have to have the doors recylindered/rekeyed. not cheap. but once i get the battery hooked up and disable the security system, I will use the radio fuse to render the key fobs useless, and then have my key reprogrammed and synced with my car, this will keep that missing key form starting it. All this trouble cause of a damn thief. And for what? there was nothing in my car to begin with, so he ends up with two useless key fobs and a pointless key, while I get a chore list to fix the issues. upsetting to say the least.

Just so you know, there is a release for the trunk. Lower down your back seat and crawl to the back (hopefully you are not scared of small spaces) . You will see a white trunk release to pull. I have had this problem with not being able to unlock my trunk and needing to jump my car. Sounds ridiculous but... sadly is true.

Ignition key stuck
Does anyone know how I can get the ignition key out of the ignition? The battery went dead & the key won't turn all the way off. I can't get into the trunk because the key is stuck. Is there another way to jump the battery from the engine?? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
