Bit of an odd issue

I dont know if anyone has run into this, but I figured if anyone has heard of the problem they would be here.

Doing a few pulls with the car, everything working as should. Then one of the the pulls the car starts making a fluttering noise. Kind of sounds like a wastegate type flutter noise ( car is TVS but same sort of noise) and also down on power a bit.

Only thing I can think that would cause that is the bypass valve.

Only makes the noise when car is under moderate to heavy load.

Anyone run into anything like this before?

Hey John,

Boost seems lower than before. It doesn't seem to fluctuate with the noise, but it is electronic and not vacuum operated so it might not pick up the fluctuation fast enough

Negative to the meth. Have not done a vacuum leak check yet. Car seems to run fine at idle, but hard to tell sometimes with cams. Liners and bumpers all look secure

I will smoke test the lines as they are original and were starting to look weathered.

Is there any good way of testing the bypass valve or boost solenoid other than replace and hope for the best. I guess I could try and strap the valve closed and see if the problem stays or goes

The valve is default closed with spring pressure.takes vacuum to open. it can seize open esp long term with meth use which u have not been using. i would say vacuum leak get some decent 4 mm silicone hose off ebay or whereever...my .02c
