Blower fan problem

I just noticed this problem like 20 minutes ago, cause a heavy rain hit and I had to roll up my windows and turn on the a/c. My blower fan only works when the knob is set to 4, any other setting and it stays off. I checked the fuses both in the center console and in the engine bay that mentioned HVAC in the label but they all seemed fine. Any ideas what this is or should I take it top the dealer?

are you certain its not spinning at all?
often the fan will be running at a lower %, and its alot harder to hear...
try doing it in your driveway and get out and physically look at the fan to see if its spinning.

+1 if it's not, it's most likely the switch

I don't mean the radiator fan, I mean the fan that controls the airflow for the heater and a/c. I can normally hear the fan blowing on all four settings, but now it only works on 4, the highest speed.

yeah thats a pretty common symptom of a crapped out blower motor.

Seems kinda weird that this would blow when the car is only a year old. Oh well. Dealer here I come.

That happens when the resistor board that actually does the speed control burns out.

blower motor resistor dude

and it may have taken the connector with it...check the connector and both the resistor for melted ends....you'll need to splice a new harness in if it did

happens a lot on Colorados

I know what I'm talking about...I do these a LOT

It shouldn't have damaged the connector, if it had you likely would have lost your fan operation entirely.

Well, suspicion was correct. Took it in to the dealer this morning. They're takingt care of it under warranty and even gave me a rental, an 07 GMC Crew Cab. I'm not a big truck person so man it feels weird driving this thing.
