The neat thing about replacing our blower motors in our Balts is that the original ones has to be CUT out of the A/C module. And then an adapter plate is bolted in to hold the new motor in place.
I helped the tech replace mine. Under warranty of course

Just to note on this, even if you blocked everyvent and never ever used the a/c, it turns on every few minutes, if the ac system never ran and circulated the fluid would lose it's charge. also it keeps all the parts moving and not rusting or siezing. Just my 2 cents

I would PROBABLY go to the dealer and tell them your getting shocked. They could check for resistance in the wires and probably find if there is a short, especially if you tell them the shock is followed by a crapped out Blower motor

Passenger Compartment Air Filter Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Open the instrument panel (I/P) compartment. The access door for the passenger compartment air filter is located behind the glove box.
2. Tilt the I/P compartment door down by squeezing in on each side of the bin until the door stops can be removed from the tracks.
3. Lower the I/P compartment completely.
4. Open the passenger compartment filter door by reaching through the opening in the rear of the I/P compartment and raising the tab until the door can be opened downward.
5. Remove the filter by sliding the filter out of the passenger compartment filter housing.

Here's GM's guide on IP filter removal. The highlighted number 33 is the actual filter.

i work at a gm dealership. this is a normal characteristic. it is caused by the brushes in the blower motor. you can put as many blower motors on as you wand and it will do the same thing.

I have no clue HOW they do it, but they replace it with the exact same damn thing...as in, it will break again. But it's not just noisey, it WILL eventually completely stop working, so you do need to get it replaced. I got mine replaced awhile back (I posted about it somewhere in this thread) but now it's making that noise again, so I need to get it replaced again soon before my warranty is up.

I have an issue where my blower won't turn off!
When I turn my car on it will turn the fan at a random time from immetiately to 5seconds to about speed 2 and stay on no matter what temp or vent setting. This is all when the blower selector is on "0". The dealer replaced the switch unit (yes I can tell they did) and gave it back with the same damn problem! The only other thing I can think it might be is either the speed/resistor network or somehow the gmlan is acting as a middleman between the controlls and the blower and is messing up.
It does this in summer and winter.
