boost gauge
boost gauge
new SS/SC and new to supercharges. everything i read/see about boost gauges show them at 0 when the car isnt accelerating. my boost gauge is always sitting around the 20 under the zero. is this supposed to happen?
Yes, thats normal. Thats the intake manifold in vacuum since your throttle is barely open. When the car is off and they key is on, the gauge should read 0, which is atmospheric pressure (ambient air pressure).
If you have a gauge that only reads boost then it will stay at 0 until you see boost. Most gauges used show boost/vacuum, which means that it can have a negative or postive value, depending on the driving conditions at that instant. Watching your vacuum is a good thing, if you are staying farther down (more vac) then you are burning less gas. It can help you manage your driving habits.
