boost problems!!
boost problems!!
I made a post awhile back about my my car hitting 18+ psi of boost(stock). Got some replys. have not had time to take it to the dealer yet. But today the problem escalated. running at full throttle in 3rd gear the car stopped pulling at 5000 rpms. I looked at the boost guage way past 20 psi . and the car slowly started dying. Pulled into my driveway checked the cat it was not glowing but the exhaust manifold was orange!!!. Please give me as much input as possible. Not new to cars just new to superchargers.
umm well the high pressure is probly from a clogged something....you should try and find that out first. Now your exhaust turning orange??? well im not big on these things, but in chem class we heated the **** out of this piece of metal........which turned orangy.....soo ya....hope you find out what it is
yeah my guess would be your cat is clogged. i know it may seem odd on such a new car but i had one come in the shop about a month ago with a clogged cat and it had gotten so hot somebody pulled up next to him when he was driving and said the underside of his car was glowing. so i would definately get it to the dealer asap. preferably by tow truck if its a good distance away.
well it sounds like the cats plugged and if u keep driving it the engine is gonna let go.. i work at a gm dealership as an apprentiship mechanic and i have seen first hand what it does to our trucks..... do u have any engine lights on???
Your EGT's were way through the roof and you were probly running lean as ****. Take it to the dealer and have them make sure the engine is ok
Put the stock intake back on before u go to the dealer

I am going to drop it off first thing in the morning. No engine lights on. You would think that if it was something bad enough to harm your engine it would have some sort of warning lights or shutdown system...

If somthing on your engine is broken thay will void your warrinty
I am tring to diagnos the problem because the last time the car had a problem it sat at the dealer for 2 weeks while all the mechanics stood around scratching their heads saying we have no clue whats wrong or how to fix it."these supercharched motors are new to us" is all i got out them. finally one of them got lucky and ran across the problem.
dude its your cat, no question. i had the same problem and it only gets worse, so take it to the dealer asap. they will look for a reason to void your warrenty so take that intake off. if you dont go soon then you could end up with engine problems.
Thanks
dropped the car off at the dealer today. They did a back preassure test and found out the cat was clogged(as expected). When I went to the dealer today to pick up my rental I talked to the service manager he told me that he talked to the guys at the gm techline and they told him that the only modifications that voided the warrarnty on the car are 1. a smaller pulley than the stage2 2. nitrous 3. a k&n air filter because of the oil affects the maf sensor. This is just what he told me wheather or not its true i'm not sure. He told me the intake did not matter.. Thanks for all the input .
