Brake lights and brake code

Hey guys so my car has been acting up I keep getting this services brake system code when I drive and my brake lights are acting up. When I put in the brake the lights won't come on but sometimes it does come on and stay on so I been using my 4ways for the past 2 days. Also there is another code popping up about traction. Service traction and ecs something I don't remember . If anyone knows anything about this if you could help me out . Thanks !

Unfortunately a standard code reader doesn't pull the brake codes but The hub contains the sensor that measures wheel speed for abs and traction control. Would check there first.

Edit-Didn't read the line about brake lights properly. Thought you meant the ones on the dash. Something more is going on if the brake lights are intermittently not working. Does the 3rd break light work properly? Do the 4ways work properly? If the 4 ways work properly the wiring at the back is probably ok. If the 3rd brake light works properly the switch and wiring to the bcm is probably ok. If those check out you probably need To get the diagram for the brake light circuit and start checking outputs from the bcm.

The brake lights are activated by brake switches (I believe two on the cobalt), behind the brake pedal. Usually one runs the lights and you can twist it sideways and pull it right out. I would start by verifying that switch is good.
