Broke FLex Pipe.

So the flex pipe(dealer called it that) is broke. Its from the stock header that hooks up on it looks like an acordian(the piano thingy) anyways it has a big crack in it. They tried to say it wasnt under my warranty. I called my step dad he used to work at a dealership he said to ask about the emission act or law. Either way i said that and within 15 minutes they had my part ordered and had a date to install all for free lol.

Im happy

hey i have the exact same problem as you. what exactly did you say to them cause they havent even looked at my car yet and they are already telling me that it might not be covered under warranty. I could use all the help I can get.

Its not covered under warranty. If its a chevy dealer say that its a 1 piece with the cat and the federal emission law states that the cat is guaranteed for 96 months or 80k whichever is first. and that if they have to replace the flex pipe it comes with a cat. So its all free even labor. They didnt argue at all or anything. If the check engine light its even better.

how would that not be under warranty? its a factory piece. cars come with bumper to bumper warranty for a reason. anything factory that breaks(except for owner negligence) should be covered

ya i took it in today and they are going to cover it under the 8yr 80,000mi warranty. The funniest thing he said is quote"off the record, we think the stage 2 performance kit caused it to heat up and crack". I almost died laughing. Unless im ripping the clutch at every stoplight which i have never done in any of my cars, that would never cause a perfectly clean crack. Dealerships are funny as hell. Atleast I didnt have to mention the emission law cause I really didnt feel like getting into it today. Thanks for your help tho. mike

YOu should of said "Off the record, I think you dont know anything" because stage 2 doesnt cause any problems out of the ordinary or else GM would warranty it.
