A/C compressor
A/C compressor
The compressor is not engaging at all anymore. GM vaguely explained to me that "they need to install a new one" costing about $1000. If this is true that it needs a new one I would rather pick up one off ebay new for $190 which is much better than GM's quote of $600 for the compressor. Does anyone else have any suggestions or thoughts that might be able to help. I took it to a shop as well and tapped in the ECU with a GM Tech 2 and got the air conditioning working for just 1 day then it went back to not turning on at all.
The story is, about a year ago I started to unscrew part of the low pressure side and it started hissing for about 5 seconds or so and then I tightened the bolt back up and now a little less than a year later I see this problem.

Ok. I'm having a similar problem, but I just lost most of my refrigerant when I tried to tap the sensor for hpt. I would maybe suggest calling Tom at crate engine depot to see if he could get the p/n for cheaper for you. I honestly don't buy anything directly from gm, and never let their guys touch my car. Sorry I can't help much.
bump for you.
