A/C Question
A/C Question
So the other day i was on my way to pick up my wife and had the A/C on. Well all of sudden i feel the A/C lose power. It seems like the A/C lost power. Before at level 2 the car would be good enough to keep the car cool but it seems now that with level 2 it feels like its running at level 1. I have to keep the A/C at level 3 now just to keep the car cool. So I was wondering what the problem might be? I have 23k miles on the car. Could it be the freon (or however you spell it)? Any ideas?
My A/C just sucks ass... period.
To even get the car cool I have to put it on setting 3... if I want it any better I have to turn it up to 4 or on recirc... which makes it so loud that I can't hear the radio. I just keep the windows down and live with the heat.

The setting your talking about is just fan speed,it doesnt make it any colder.
I find if you want it to get cold you have to be on Recirc if it real hot outside.
If freon gets low it will not get as cold and eventually not keep up at all.
Have the freon pressure checked at the dealer if its that noticeable, you could have a very small leak which could take along time for it to eventually stop working.

yea i keep my a/c on recirc but thats where im starting to feel that its not as cold as it use to be its taking longer for it to cool up even with the recirc and the lost of power was almost automatic while it was on level 2 recirc felt like it drop to level 1 without me touching anything just on the street running about 45mph
it "boosts it". haha.
my a/c sucks too. when im driving, it's fine but when i come to a complete stop, my car acts like it wants to die... idles down to about 500 RPM's then back up about 3 times... its gay.

Back on the subject at hand, has it been warmer or is it suddenly very humid out? That'd explain a sudden decrease in the perceived a/c chill factor.

well humidity is getting crazy out here:
Mostly Clear Overnight Low
70°F
Precip
10%
Wind: SSW 5 mph
Max. Humidity: 94%
Sunset: 8:25 PM ET
Avg. Low: 67°F
Record Low: N/A
and this is right now at 11:50pm...i would agree with you if i felt the difference like after work when i turned my car on but like explained before this difference happened while the car running and having the a/c on all of a sudden it just dropped...running cold one sec then the next running cool

I swear I saw a TSB mentioned somewhere in my travels here about that exact issue... IIRC there is a reflash to address it.

sounds like a plan to me, i guess i will be dropping by my dealership this weekend
Hey Jr... I talked to Rally yesterday and he said that he took his car in for the rough idling w/stage 2 issue and they reflashed it and fixed the problem. Check the DSJSLA boards for more details.
Yes, it does. If you have the fan on and either the recirc button pressed or the selector on defrost, even starting towards the foot/defrost position, the a/c compressor stays on. I hate that, sometimes I would like to just run the fan on recirc but the car turns the compressor on anyway.
