A/C Recirculation Button

I'm having a problem with my A/C recirculation button. The problem is, it only works sometimes, and other times, no matter how many times I press it, the light never comes on. It's not blinking or anything, and I have the other controls on vent and cold. When it does work, I have to press it as soon as I turn the ignition. If I wait even five seconds after starting the car, it never comes on. And this only works once in a while.

Does anyone know what could be causing this, or where I should start searching for the problem at? I've searched the forums, but could find anything exactly like this issue. Thanks in advance for any help.

Also, it's a 2006 Cobalt SS. The air works, and gets cold like it should, but in Florida, I need that recirculation boost haha.

Maybe just replace the control unit. It's like around $30

I think it also depends on the setting of the airflow switch. I seem to recall mine not working at all either when the air was directed to the windshield only.

Yeah, I made sure it was on vent and cold, but still couldn't get it to work. I went by a junkyard today and pulled one off another Cobalt, installed it, and it works perfectly now.

Thanks for the help!

U can't use it if ur vent choice is on certain settings, so turn ur vent knob and see if it works on a different setting
