A/C Sounds?!
A/C Sounds?!
Hey guys, My AC, especially on long trips.. will start sounding like it has a cricket in it...literally just has this annoying little tapping noise that is consistent, until I turn it off...and has nothing to do with A/C compressor due to it also sounding in heat. I don't know you think it may be a wheel in one of my air ducts?!
Actually I had this happen to me for the first time, today. I don't know what it is, but it sounded like it was coming from the dash just above the radio.
Oh, and if you aint from flint then its like straight up..**** YOU

No, not really...just about average I guess..Yeah I used to have an 00' Trans Am, and like 3 months before I sold it, it would do the same thing.
if your freon was leaking out then the pressure switch would cut power to the a/c compressor. Your a/c wouldn't work at all.
may be its just a turning object in the air compresor or somewhere in the actual mechanism...our systems seem to all work, but just have a noise issue. I have a friend that works at the dealership. I'll see if he can find out for me.
I think it's either your blower motor or one of your mode actuators that changes the doors around in the air box. There's usually 2 or 3 different actuators and they can get that clicking noise when they go bad. It can even make the noise when the key is off.
Ok guys, I have found the answer to these sounds. It was the seal on one of the components in the A/C system, Im not sure what part the seal was on but it was a TSB so your delaer knows all about the problem. This also causes a pretty decent leak onto the passanger floor board. The noises were the result of water getting into the A/C system, most likely getting on to the blower motor. Unfortunatly after that problem was fixed the A/C worked perfectly for a day except for a slight burning rubber smell which I figured to be the new seal, well I was driving in my car with the A/C at the 3rd setting when it just stopped. It now only works on full blast. Im hoping this is just the resistor and shouldnt be a big problem. Well I hope this helps you guys out and like I said before this is a TSB so your dealer should know all about it.
