Car is done
On top of my trans screwing up and need to be replaced or rebuilt. This morning I got on the gas a bit and then smelled burning oil. Popped the dipstick while it was running and it gushed oil out. Checked my catch can and it was frozen solid. So im assuming the crankcase pressurized and fucked my head gasket. I now have coolant in my oil. Car runs fine though.
when you say "Popped the dipstick while it was running and it gushed oil out". do you mean you pulled the dipstick to check it, while the car was running, and oil gushed out. or are you saying while on the gas it popped the dipstick out. cause if thats the case i would think your head gasket is fine. one would assume the dipstick will pop off before it'll lift the head or blow the gasket. especially if you say the coolant level didn't change.
thats why when i drove the car a year ago during winter i didn't even run a can, just took it off and ran open lines to dump on the ground. i would just say change the oil and take a gander. if it doesn't look like chocolate milk haha. i'd say you'll be fine

You drove around with your car pourin fluids onto the ground, tisk tisk
open? yes. "pouring fluids"? no. open lines so the can does not freeze shut like nhanson saw. IF anything came out besides vapor, it may have been a teaspoon amount throughout the whole time i was driving. you're only going to see large amounts of blow by, even with a ring gap like mine, when you're deep in the throttle.

Maybe i dumped excess water back in through the valve cover when i was messing with the catch can.
Car still runs fine and i think my coolant level is ok.
Found out today i need a hydroshield BAD. Sat in parking lot for half hour trying to get MAF to dry.
lol, this weather sucks, froze my catchcan/coolant the Monday before xmas. we were going on a 1000 mile trip and the coolant temp just kept rising...everything on the cold side of the thermostat was frozen **** stiff. Not enough concentrate and too much water, didn't matter until -30+ apparently. This was just as we were leaving, so that was the good news. I was under hood, trying not to freeze to death while assessing the situation and felt a frozen slug in my 5/8th catch can hose...the engine was running so I pulled off the oil cap and POOF! it was pressurized beyond normal. Removed the whole system and used the car heater to unthaw, did the trick as the slug came out in one solid chunk but coolant hit a max of 113*C (235*F) as we limped home at 20mph. I was worried about the head gasket, by mid afternoon it had unfroze enough to start circulating past the 'stat and I added concentrate and it has ran ok since then. I did order a oil analysis kit from blackstone labs but not here yet.
Flush everything, try again. Hopefully you got lucky like me. Imagine cracking a ZZP forged block due to stupidity.
One thing I added was a PCV line heater, basically a wire resistance pipe heater that I wrapped in pipe insulation. 40W and it keeps the system unfrozen even @ -30. Looks as ghetto as my DIY catch can but much sexier than walking in the winter.
