Car jerking
Car jerking
When I press on the gas it runs fine, but the moment i have my foot with slight pressure on the pedal to keep my idle speed the car starts to jerk, some times it does it some times it doesnt. It did the jerk to a point were my car almost shut off once. Like a bucking bronco. Any ideaS??
I think its the fuel pump anyone else want to give it shot on what they think it might be, im just throwing a guess out there lol

I think you should be a little more specific.
Do you have the clutch in?
Are you moving or standing still and in what gear if moving ?
Coasting in gear at at low Rpm in a manual will cause that to happen ,if thats what your doing !

learn how to drive? it sounds like you dont really know how to drive a stick... not insulting you but thats what it sounds like.. you need to get it in gear more... and i can almost garrentee that its not the fuel pump...
Its when im in a gear and im going at an idle speed and rpm the car starts to jerk. If i slightly press on the pedal while im going at low rpms even at 3000 my car starts to jerk. The moment i step on it and raise the rpms it stops and then continues when i have my foot on it slightly. When i mean jerk i mean like bucking.
it has nothing to do with how i drive, good try though.

Unfortunately its a gas pedal skill to keep your car from jerking between idle and 2,000 rpm. And you don't need to add gas to keep your car from dying in idle....5th gear cruise at idle (800rpm) is 35mph and our pcms include an auto-anti low-rpm death switch that adds gas on its own to keep it at 800rpm
maybe a video on youtube might help us understand what your talking about instead of assuming its your driving?
Geeze this must suck for you dude, you've got the choice of riding the bull in the daily driveable rpms or wasting gas and clutch in the upper ones.....

It doesnt jerk every second and continuous. But it does jerk like once and then like 5-10 secs later it will do it again idling at the same speed.
lets say I am idle speed at 50 mph in 3rd gear I would be close to about 3000 rpms. It will jerk while im idling at that speed.
I dunno i guess im the only one with this problem so far. But its not my driving.
I know what you are talking about; it's common with these cars in first gear at low rpms for whatever reason. People have suggested that it is the mounts but I have a solid upper mount as well as poly inserts (lower) and still have this problem from time to time. Unfortunately, the only way around it is to just let off and/or give it clutch and ride through it. Good luck... you will learn to negate it as you drive the car more.
rukkee has it bang on. gear lash and soft mounts, mine has done it since day one.
btw, the initial cause of the issue isnt your driving. but if you continue to do it, when
its quite easily avoidable with an adjustment to technique, then the problem does become your driving.
its very easy to drive these cars without experiencing that bucking.

Sadly its b/c of how touchy 1st gear I'm having trouble teaching my wife how to drive it. Never thought about clutching it though. I just rev right through it. Or in parking lots, I just very slowly touch the gas. I only have this issue in the bottom of 1st though. 3k sounds kinda high.
its because when you take your foot off the gas...the injectors shut off!! i was wondering about this for quite a while until vince started looking into tuning out cars. what is happening is that you have such a light touch on it that your injectors are on and off on and off...so it bucks (soft mounts make this worse)...so my suggestion...dont cruise like that or clutch around it
oh, and getting tuned DRASTICALLY reduces this problem

ya, vince said he can possibly set it so that the injectors do not fully turn off....but...i like it like that...5th gear on a hill and i waste no gas at all
this is the same reason that when you are cruising at mid range rpms and you take your foot on or off the gas w/o clutch why it bucks a little, but as you get into the lower gears it does it harder and more because of the gear ratio...

omg none of you are understanding my problem...
it has nothing to do with 1st gear it has nothing to do with me at low rpms
THE CAR JERKS when im in any gear other then 1st. When im idling my car or in cruise control the car jerks. It will jerk at 3000 rpms and around that. Nothing more then that, at high revs or rpms it doesnt jerk. Its not my driving.
I have drove standards before and have never had this problem.

even when im above 3000 rpm it still does it
when i accel and put my foot on gas heavier it doesnt do it.
when my foot is off gas completely and am just rolling it doesnt do it either
$10 says you will make a SS/SC jerk the first time you take it out for a trip around the block.
Wow someone with my same problem! Don't you love when people tell you to learn how to drive! My car did not do this until last year all the sudden one day. Only difference is when in any gear, but felt more in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th when I suddenly take my foot off the gas the whole car JERKS\JOLTS! Sometimes if I VERY SLOWLY take my foot off the gas it won't do it. I thought engine\trans mount, but all are good.

When I take my foot off its bad bro! I'm a tech and I know what your refering to DFCO. Its like a hugh drag on the engine. Also when I'm cruising at very low throttle the car feels like it wants to slow down or like im riding the brakes.
engine torque being absorbed by the blower is part of it. surge in air movement. it comes down the blower itself. grand prixs do this as well. my car still does it.
as far as surge when in cruise. the car doesn't enter dfco while cruise is on. for some stupid reason

Today I unplugged the hose that comes from the Boost solenoid to the bypass valve and the the car ran better and for the first time in a year my long term fuel trims went back to normal! Instead of running in the positive double digets all the time they are now go from +1 to +6.
I did already, but one of the tech at my shop came from Saturn and said DO NOT spray that **** in the GM drive by wire TBs because it fs up the TPS and or throttle motor.
Ok I think the reason my car has been so screwed up is because of 2 different problems! 1. The boost solenoid may be leaking. 2. When I installed the Devils Own Meth Kit with the Progressive controller I had to tap onto the 5V refference wire to the manifold MAP\IAT2 Sensor and I think might have F'ed up the sensor internally and is not sending a proper signal to the PCM?

I have the same issue sometimes............so again another reason to get a TUNE!!! Damn it!!!!
