This dont seem to happen if im going 50% to wot in first gear it only seems to do it when im only giving it a lil gas. Besides it being ******* embarrassing as hell id like to know whats wrong with the car to fix it.
Normal for most manuals vehicals in first gear.
My dad's Ranger, and my brother S-10 both do (did) that too, as well as my Cobalt
I think it has something to do with the low speed (Less rotational momentum) on theflywheel combined with the engine giving power in spurts/bursts. IE: Cylinder 1's power stroke, then Cylinder 3, then Cylinder 4, then Cylinder 2, then Cylinder 1 again. A 4 cylinder engine will always have 1 cylinder on power stroke, but there isnt any transition, like there is on say a 7 cylinder radial engine. Wich when that runs at low RPM like many radial engines they putter and sputt and bounce too.

ur riding the clutch dude

It's normal for EVERY manual car. It's just the slop of the trans mounts from the torque in first gear if you have trans/engine mounts or torque damper this "rubber band" effect is eliminated. Ask me how I know.

me too, especially when my gf gets mad.

She was holding two cups of coffee yesterday and we hit traffic. Funny as hell. I never broke poker face though.

Its a combo of clutch disk springs, engine mounts, axle slop, and control arms all flexing and unloading and a crappy stock tune and LOTS of gear... a little extra slip of the clutch usually helps stop this, or a non-emmisions friendly tune... i think i pulled 5* of timing and added 10% fuel in my mustangs tune below 1800rpm to make it drive better...
