Car jerks into reverse!!!

it never ends!!! Today I was backing my car into a spot going maybe 2 or 3 mph in first gear.....clutch in, move it into R and CLUNK, the car jerks and engages.. Is this normal, I tried it again to confirm and it did it as well. does this mean I have an issue?? My car jerked into reverse BEFORE letting the clutch out.

IIRC there's no syncro for reverse, so it's going to do this unless you're at a complete stop or moving backwards already.

QFT......never, never, EVER stick it in reverse while still rolling forward.
You might get away with it with an automatic but trying to get two gears spinning in opposite directions to engage smoothly......something is going to break. And it is likely going to be expensive when it does.
