Car key FOB issue. Not with the fob :)

Worth a shot. I have a pontiac g5 that the dealer said will not respond to key FOBs. It's not just this one fob, none of their equipment either. It did originally come with one, although I didn't get it when I bought the car used so I never got to see it work. What part(s) could cause the car to not respond to an fob? I've been looking everywhere but all I find are bad fob topics, when this particular issue isn't the fob. Thanks!

Could be a faulty actuator

if you go on GM parts direct, look under keyless entry, there is a unit called "receiver" that should be in the car that receives the signal that the keyfob transmits in the car.

arg, the one part without any diagrams or part numbers! lol

thanks for the help though. So look into needing a new one or think it could just be a fuse or wiring issue?

It's a little device inside the door that locks & unlocks the door,

i find it unlikely that its a fuse, typically the fuses for the security are on the same circuit that something else is on, so you would notice a problem. I believe its the heating and air conditioning circuit that keyless entry is on on the fuse diagram.

The trunk button doesn't do anything either, so it's not just the door.

Well if no fobs will work then maybe something in the ECU not sure if it would have anything to do with the doors and trunk remotes
