Car in for maintenance. Cost?

Hey guys.

My 2.2 'balt has 7.6k miles on it and the Change Oil Soon warning just came up on my DIC this morning, which means she's up for maintenance. I have no experience to do maintenance myself like many of the guys around the board have, so I'll take it to the dealership and let them do the work this time.

Anyway, my question is... around how much would this maintenance cost? I know it varies from person to person, but considering my car is in good shape and doesn't need any parts, what'd be a reasonable price?

I'm asking this because I was planning on putting some 30% film on my windows this weekend, but if the maintenance's gonna be costly, I'll leave that for a few weeks down the road.

Thanks a bunch.

changing your oil is simple, even the biggest dumby can do it in about 10 minutes. if you need help, ask someone here to walk you through it. trust me, the first time you do it yourself you'll be asking yourself why you never did it to begin with

You should fine someone that knows how to do an oil change. And learn how to do it yourself. You save tons of money

Most dealers make very little on oil changes, and what they do make, is on the markup for the oil and filter. The simple solution to that is, get a filter and oil elsewhere, and bring them in to the dealership. Make sure you get a good oil filter, though. There is some junk out there.

Oh, alright thanks for the input guys.

I'm not sure I can do this myself as of now (pretty damn sick and I don't have a garage of my own), but I'll keep it in mind for sure. I actually thought that the whole thing was more than just an oil change, I though they did a complete checkup on the car. Seems I was wrong.

Yes and No. Can't give you a straight answer there. Some places do a great job looking the car over, and some seemingly only realize there is oil that needs to be changed. It simply differs too much from place to place. Regardless, you're car only has 7500 miles on it. There really shouldn't be any issues. And any issues you have, would be covered by warranty, unless you've been slipping the clutch, slamming the brakes or squealling the tires a bit too much.

At my car's dealership I get free 17" tires for life, as soon as they go bald they give me new ones, no hassle. Only pre req is that I get all my maintenance done there. Which costs around $40.00 for an oil change.

Not really the case, although I've run into ******** that require some bad brake-slamming. Not that often, though. Well, there are a few things I'd like checked out, like an odd noise I hear coming from the front driver wheel whenever I bump into something. It looks like there's something loose, I don't know.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the info. I'll definitely change my own oil next time. Do it yourself FTW.
