Car shut off and won't start back up now
Okay so I was driving down the highway about 70mph and my car just lost power the steering got hard and it felt as if I downshifted I pulled over and it won't restart the engine temp was 194 which isn't too hot especially after a two hour trip already the car has about 130,000 miles on it I just replaced the fuel filter recently the car will crank and gets power it starts with starting fluid but seems to have fuel pressure I don't know what to think about
check fuel pressure... and check that your fuel pump relay is connected.
also smack the fusebox with the but end of a screwdriver to simulate bumps and watch the fuel pressure.
if it flutters or drops you have a fusebox issue.
I had several no starts over winter... replaced the fuel pump... issue came back after a week.
my fuel pump relay would lose connection so my mechanic found a way to keep it tightly seated and I haven't had an issue since.
I am working on getting a different fuse box.
fuel pump could still be the culprit but a $12 relay is cheaper for troubleshooting.

When you say it seems to have fuel pressure, have you acutally checked it?
If you can start it with starting fluid the rest of the system is working, it's all fuel delivery from there.
Check for proper 58psi rail pressure at all times and that it holds well when you turn the car off, it shouldn't drop back down right away. If that's there, then check for pulse to the injectors, you can get a set of Noid lights cheap that plug in there and blink when the PCM tries to fire the injector. I've never seen an injector or driver failure on this platform, it's always a fuel pump or line or regulator, check the pressure and let us know.
