Exclamation Car will not warm up!!!

My car generally will not get above 130 F coolant temp unless I let it sit for awhile in this cold weather..Even when its warm outside it still struggles to get 160..I replaced thermostat a while back and it fixed issue for a few weeks then it came back..Any help would be appreciated

Did you put a pos oem tstat back in there? Chances are that one crapped out too.

Has to be a thermostat, it's the only thing that can fail and not allow the car to warm up properly.

It's possible your engine temp sensor is failing but they rarely fail and only read incorrectly by a little, they usually die completely

I went with a duralast from autozone. Usually don't buy that stuff but it looked more durable than the oem one and I wanted to avoid buying another crappy oem one. Had it in for 30k so far and no issues.

^ becauze the motors cold, so it loads that motor with fuel to try and warm it up but it does get warm..
Make sense? Haah
Called open loop, when it reachs operating temp it goes into closed loop

Your not losing coolant are you? No excessive pressure in cooling system?

mine would read intermittently, some days it would read just fine then other days, it would trip the CEL and just show "---" for the coolant temp. I changed both the T-stat and the temp sensor, and fixed everything.

Yeah the "---" is it not reading properly, that's for sure the sensor or a wiring issue like my car had, the harness got cut through rubbing on something and shorted out to ground intermittently, resulting it the sensor reading 300+ degrees or just dashes sometimes, worse when it was wet out.

Stop buying from Autozone. I learned a long time ago, all of there parts are straight junk. I had 3 alternators fail, and countless other parts fail Coil packs that were bad out of the box. Find somewhere that sells american made parts. Oriley if you absolutely have no other choice.

Lol, too bad most of our parts are made overseas. American made LOL, good joke.

One thing I do agree on, O'Reilly Auto Parts. I help design stores for them and they seem to have their **** together. That's why they are growing so fast.

I can get my hands on american made parts. moog and standard still. Orileys and NAPA are the best chain places to buy parts. I needed a coil pack for my F150, Granted it was the old 4.6 2v with the coil pack block of 4, if that makes sense. Anyways I was running low of money, as it was winter time. Bought a duralast one. Came home, put it on and it wouldn't start. I finally got it to start and it was missing like crazy. So after looking up the wiring diagram and making sure I didn't do something wrong, I put the old one back on, and it fired right up, and wasn't missing nearly as bad. I took it back, and they told me yeah, we get a lot of parts that aren't good out of the box. Then why sell them? I have not bought anything other then a bulb or cleaning stuff from them since.

id say temp sensor. try this if u can, take out temp sensor. boil some water, leave temp sensor connected and put it in the water and see how hot ur car says that is. probably want to use a thermometer to check the water first to see if it matches up.
