car wont start after recall work...

so, go to take the car out on this beautiful day. and she wont start!! I got her back Tuesday from having the ignition recall fixed.

The car clicks, the dash lights up, and the cd player sounds like its trying to spit a disk out. I am assuming its the ignition cylinder that was just replaced.
when I got home last night, I pulled in the driveway (in my sedan) and noticed the passlock light was flashing. went to take the RL out today, and this is what happens.

so at the moment, im assuming its the ignition.
I know the other option is the start, or the crank fuse.
How do I tell if the crank fuse is bad?
I am trying to check as much as I can myself, before I let chevy molest it.
The only reason it will go there, is so they can fix it if it is their fault. otherwise I want her going to my mechanic.

I think instead of me getting aggravated with this, ill just have her towed to chevy Monday morning, and make them fix whatever they messed up.

nope, battery is fine. checked that. all the dash lights come on, the clock comes on, and when I try to crank it, all the lights cut off. I think its a shortage in the ignition.

test voltage when cranking. its not as common but sometimes the batt will read good but when you crank it drops down to 9v or something ridiculous.

I tried using a battery box to jump it because I thought that was it. switched it to engine start, and nothing. im gonna try again in the morning, and test the voltage.

If you had it on engine start and gave it a bit to "charge" before starting it then its less likely it was the battery. Still possible though. Test it just in case because you dont want to have it towed to the dealer when turns out it is the batt so ud have to pay for the tow, diagnostic and whatever crazy price they have for an OEM battery

just very suspect if you had no issues before and all of a sudden it crapped out after taking it in to be serviced but who knows they could have left the lights on or something stupid

Your car has been on the road for 8 years, still have the original battery in there?

If the original battery has been in his car for 8 years then he deserves to pay for a tow.

Alright, I just bought the car a month ago.
I believe it is the original battery because it is an ACDelco, and the guy I bought it from said it never saw a dealership because he was a "mechanic". So, I am not 100% on it, but I don't see why another ACD battery would go in.
I did not have a problem with it starting until after the ignition was put in.
I did let it charge for about a half hour before I tried the engine start.

Guys, I'm just trying to learn, I'm a cook, not a mechanic. I am just trying to learn how to take care of and work on my car.

Did you get new keys when you got the car back? It sounds like they didn't program the chip in the key to the car.

I did get new keys, and we also asked if they were chipped because we need a third key, and we were told its not chipped 0.o
Im really thinking its a bad ignition, or they didn't do the passlock relearn.

If key has a + sign with a little circle around it right below the black plastic part it's got a chip in it

Yeah, you need a chipped key, and one that is programmed to the car.

Sounds like that's the problem. You can do the relearn yourself, it's not hard.

check the battery again. I took mine to autozone and they told me it was completely dead, when my battery box was reading good. so, just put it on a slow charger for a few hours and she started right up. haven't had an issue since.
