Car wont start new engine installed Help Please

Hey just had a friend of mine who owns a shop put a brand new 2.0 LSJ. The car turns over real well, 60psi fuel at the rail and over 175-180psi compression per cylinder. removed the injectors they are all misting the same so i think they are all working correctly. the car was sitting for a few years so i know the fuel was old but we ran about 10 gallons through the system to clean it out. i checked for spark all the cylinders have spark. I dont know what else to do..... Please any help would be appreciated. thanks

Sure the timing is right? If you have fuel, and spark, i would think timing is the next thing to check.

I'm thinking the same thing. Are you sure that the cam sensor is properly aligned?

Is it backfiring at all? Or attempting to fire?

Sometimes when I hold the gas pedal all the way down and try to start it will have a small backfire right at the end. I haven't checked timing yet i feel like thats the problem. Is there a way to check thats easy?

I had the issue of the cam sensor not being properly aligned and it will turn over but not start. It seemed like it wanted to but no go. It is really a simple issue to remedy. As far as timing goes this is more likely your issue unless you've had the cams out and the chain isn't in it's proper position but this isn't the way your initial question was worded.

Problem corrected! The cam sensor housing was aligned but when they installed it the eninge was at TDC but at the wrong stoke. we pulled it out turned the engine over and put it back in fired right up. New problem is something wrong with the shift linkage when you put the car in gear its going into the wrong gear seems like something is bent or stripped.
