CEL the true sign of POWER

well today i was sitting in 5 oclock traffic and all of a sudden boom CEL lights up and i was like damn...i wasnt even moving...so i drive into the first store with a parking light and pop the hood...i see the engine cover flopping around and the oil cap not in the block...i went get an oil change last friday and saw that the dealer ddint screw the engine cover on right so i tightened it and was happy...but now it happened again i have become pissed off. Im guess the code is a low compression code becasue the pressure couldnt not build up due to the cap not being screwed in...has anyone else had this experience..im bringing it to a friend who has a scanner at his house to check the code but im almost 100% sure its something to do with compression or oil pressure..is there a safe way to get rid of the whole engine cover to begin with so this wont be an issue later in the future?

thats happened to me at the track, but instead of jsut the oil cap it was the cap and the thing it screws into. if i didnt have my engine cover i would have lost both on the track. put it back together and friend cleared code and it went away.
