Choosing the right Jack
Choosing the right Jack
I know this doesnt really sound like a problem issue, but it is in relation to service so I felt it belonged here.
I am shopping around for a new jack and one of the ones I was looking at was an aluminum race jack from craftsman, but it got horrid reviews, it was a 2 ton rated.
I found one similar from bluepoint that is 1.5 ton rated, but my dilemma is how do I figure out if that jack will work or not, if memory serves our car weighs more than 1.5 tons, is it by vehicle weight and I am just making this more difficult than it needs to be or is there some kind of formula to use.
also does anyone on here have any recommendations for a good jack, preferably a race jack or something low so once my car is lowered I can still get it under there.

for our cars, a nice lightweight low profile jack is the way to go. yes our cars do weigh around 3000lbs (1.5 tons) but you arent picking the whole car up at one time, you pick one side (or end, depending on how you do it) at a time, lifting around half the weight.
