Cleaning the intake manifold....

does anyone know how to separate the 2 parts of the intake manifold to clean it...? I took mine out for a rough idle problem and I looked inside and there was oil from the breather in there and it looked pretty dirty.....

BTW I have a CAI and when I took off the intake mani...the pathway into the valvechambers are grossly dirty and my car only has 30,000 miles on it......

if u have a 2.4 its solid 1 piece... 2.2 is 2 piece thts "glued" together, you wont be able to take any mani off any car apart, its ment to be a strong solid one piece thing.

yeah i would get some APC and make sure to let it dry for a long time. or run a hair dryer or heat gun in it to dry it faster

Seafoam might do the trick.

Yeah I just ran alcohol through it and it cleaned quite a bit out......I cleaned out the head slots too....believe it or not after 30,000 they were pretty dirty....valves were pretty good though....hardly anything on them besides a little griminess at the bottom of the curve.

def worth the time if you've got it to do it to them.....

and yes I have an 07...as a that is a pic of my motorbay in my sig lol....then again I could be shortbus special............

Hey did anyone notice it difficult to the get manifold on/off the right bolt that had the nut on it...? I ended up bending mine down a little bit to make it easier because it was incredibly like 2 or 3MM too high for me to get it into the hole....

shutup perverts............

Turn the car on and while its running pour some sand though the throttle body and then spray some water in after. It will also have an extrude honing effect which will port your intake manifold, head, and bore your car out to a 2.4. It's proven to add up to 15 hp.
