Clicking exhaust after car is warmed up.
Clicking exhaust after car is warmed up.
Hey guys,
well, in the mists of selling my cavy and picked up an 05 ss/sc. Now i noticed when i drove it home from the dealership that theres a clicking noise coming from cat/exhaust after its been warmed up. I hear it right after the car is parked, or when sitting at a light.
Is that normal? Or is there a recall/fix for that. I also noticed the squeak in the rear susp/deck. When i get a chance, ill pull the deck lid apart and make sure things are good. Not to mention, it feels like the drivers seat is a bit loose. It feels like it moves when u stop. Weird, anybody else have that?
Thanks for the help. Guess after 11years of cavy... i'm a NOOB again!

Mine clicked but that was only when the header gasket was cooled down, like sitting at a light and ****, it could have a crack just like mine did, does it do it when you first start her up in the morning or whenever?

Lots of cars do this. At least many that i've owned have.
Mine never did this until I picked up the SS exhaust, it gets annoying as hell, no matter what. Once my cars warmed up it clicks every half a second. it's extremely dumb... and I can't take it to the dealer because they wouldn't warrarnty an SS exhaust on a 2.2L
The sound your exhuast is making is 100% normal. The stock resonator makes those while cooling down. And the clicking noises the other posters were hearing was either the trunk latch self test or the fuel cap self test. All 100% normal sounds.
Edit: It's not so much a cooling down noise as a when the resonator is hot noise. Most people just notice it on cool down.

That may be true but like I said, the noise has only showed up after I installed the SS exhaust and it constantly ticks once heated up. not just every now and then, all the time.
I wanna know if the SS exhaust is too close to something under the car that is not suppose to expand past a certain point by heat.

My exhaust does the same thing, no worries. also make sure your seat lock is completely pressed down, I had the same problem I made a stop at a light and I flew forward.
I was kinda funny. Push the bar down all the way until it locks the one that needs this finessing it the lock that is closest to the center consol. that the one that gave me the trouble. just wobbled it in and it works fine now.

Wow that make so much sense! i was always wondering what that locking/clankin sound was. i knew it wasnt exhaust... so it just makes sure the trunk is locked?
