Clicking Noise When Accelerating?
Clicking Noise When Accelerating?
So I have this clicking noise it only occurs at 2 times the first is when I try to acelerate before I hit my power band and when acelerateing from a low rpm cruse, it used to be a quiet ticking noise but after turbocharging the car it is all of a suden louder even when im not pushing the car it seem so be coming from the drivers side. also once I hit 3k rpm or higher it no longer occurs any idea what this is?
but I have gone through numerious exhaust systems and headers and have had it every time, ive pretty much had the issue since 35k miles and the car is at 80k now so im not sure if I should be woried or what
My mani to downpipe gasket was disintegrated basically and was causing a leaking tick under acceleration.
Mine does the same thing, it has ever since I installed the ZZP header down pipe combo. I have been told that it is normal because the walls of stainless steel is thinner. I have a hard time believing this seeing as it seemingly does not correspond to the same rate of speed as the valve train or pistons. The only way the sound is related is that the ticking gets faster as rpm's increase. Mine makes the noise any time the car is accelerating. It won't do it at idle or rved out of gear. I have also been told that it's an exhaust leak but I have had my exhaust tested and taken apart to look for leaks and I don't have a leak. Personally I think my exhaust is leaking where the header meets the head or where the header meets the downpipe because the rest is welded. If you inure it out let us know cuz I'd love to know ow to fix it. The ticking sound drives me nuts
see it makes me feel like somthing is wrong with the car but I have never had any problems with the drivetrain after the ticking started its just anoying and if it is exhaust noise than why would it get louder after mounting a cast iron turbo manifold to the car?
I have a clicking in my rear passenger side cause by the dealership replacing my rear brakes under warranty and pushing the pins on the back of the pads into the brake pad material itself so it doesn't seat properly which you can hear under 3k rpm and goes away when you brake since it pushes the pad against the rotor. Odds that this is it are slim but thought I would mention.
Axelthered05, Have you had any luck finding the source of the clicking?
knapster6, When was the brake replacement you described? If it was recent, I'd be happy to look into this further! Let me know.

yeah but like I said its only when accelerating it does not happen while im crusing under 3k so im pretty sure its not the breaks plus why would it get louder after a turbo swap if it were the breaks?
