do you notice it on snow, or just on pavement, only when it's colder, or when it's warmer, when the car is cool (has sat for a while) or once it's warmed up? My friend's subaru had a stone between the brake disk and the brake shroud, very loud and didn't happen every time he drove it. Either way, a quick way to check this is to take off each wheel one by one and look at everything, rotate it by hand (when working on the front, use your parking brake, when working on the back, use the transmission to hold the vehicle) listening for any noise.
