Cold Air Intake Problem...

Hello,

I ordered a cold air intake kit and installed it the way it said to, and after install my 2007 2.2L cobalt started up weird like it was going to die on me, and then after a very small test drive it shifted very very heavy, so i removed it and reverted back to stock.

I was wondering if anyone has a solution for this problem.

thanks alot for your help ahead of time.

did you screw around with the maf?

what company is the intake?

did you make sure there were no leaks?

do you have sai and forgot to hook it up?

did the filter somehow get wet?

Ive been told my cobalt is shifting hard because its getting to much air but im not sure so any hints to solve my problem would be awesome. ive seen a few cobalts around with intakes and they sound and perform better. ive added a exhaust and that gave me around 2 mpgs and 6 hp so that makes me happy i just wanted to see how much mpg or hp i would get for the price of a inexpensive intake. thanks ahead of time.

I saw the picture of your intake blackbolt and mines is similar except im still useing half of the stock hose from the motor till right before the maf sensor, then theres a 6 inch chrome adpater to mount the maf sensor on and then the the cone filter after that. Besides that they look similar.

No the maf sensor was unscrewed and then screwed into the new adapter i got.

Its a spectre intake, heard from a few good friends that there a decent brand.

Pretty sure there wasnt any leaks but i will double check that. There was a small square rubber seal ring that i forgot to replace but im not sure that is the problem. Whats the best way to check for leaks?

Im not sure what a sai is...Im new to the modifing scene.

And no the filter did not get wet i did it in my garage and it was a brand new filter.

Thanks for your help blackbolt89

I will also try disconnecting my battery after I check for leaks and and get all the problems fixed and hope it works.

Thanks william745

Make sure the powering harness was connected to the MAF?

I know it sounds obvious but I forgot to connect mine one time when I was messing around under the hood.

did you get the code scanned? It would help alot if you new what code you were throwing.

Unhook your battery and put it back on, then run your car at idle for a few minutes and see if you get a code again, if you get a code, take it to autozone and get the CEL number then you can go from there alot easier.

That adaptor for the MAF, does it have seals on the clamps or is it just metal to metal?

Hahn intake problem

Well even though this is a very old thread just have to say something about the Hahn intake i just put in. I installed everything and works fine (AFTER THE CAR HAS TIME TO GO THROUGH THE OPEN LOOP INTO CLOSED LOOP RIGHT WHEN YOU START THE CAR) Once i start my car in the morning it will shoot up to around 1300 -1500 rpm (normal like stock) and then it will like bog down every other second like its losing air or something. Does that the whole time until it hits closed loop idle and then runs fine with the better feel of acceleration. Idle at closed loop is about 800 - 900 rpm. which is same as stock. Any advice. Oh yea it is the new version of the intake not the old one.
