computer data

Okay i asked this question on the other place and no answer hopefully someone here will.
Can the service dept tell the way you drive from the time you bought the car till now,
or can they only tell volatile info stored, like a code that triggered the cel, sel or whatever they call it.

we can not tell how how you have driven your car since new. but if the check engine light comes on, then a code is stored. if the dealer looks at the code there is data stored with the code. the rpm's, gear, speed, run time etc. the list is actually is actually 40 or so parameters long. so, we can not tell how it has been driven since new, but if a code is stored we can tell what was happening when the code set from the saved data. the saved data(actually called freezeframe data) is just a diagnostic tool we can use to try and duplicate driving conditions to try and get the car to act up. for example if you have a missfire at highway speeds, there would be no point in us just driving the car into the shop and letting it idle to check for the missfire. by checking the freeze frame data we can see the condiotions and duplicate them to try and duplicate the customers concern.
i hope this helps you,
