Coolant Problem
Coolant Problem
Alright so I've had my car for a few months and noticed that it keeps saying low coolant. i realized that I'm losing coolant from the spot right behind the radiator not the reservoir tank. Now i don't think its a leak because I never see any spots on the ground. unfortunately i have to refill it about every 100 miles or so. I really have no idea what the problem is anyone have any ideas?
06 cobalt 2.0L 4cylinder supercharged. Im not actually sure where the leak is coming from because I cant see it leaking. So I have tto different spots to put in coolant. A reservoir tank up by the drivers side and right behind the radiator. Now the tank is never empty however the other spot usually looks like its going empty but when I put pressure on the hose i can still feel coolant in there. Now the engine never runs hotter than normal but the low coolant sensor is always on.
The one in the front of the car has nothing to do with your engine cooling system and will not effect the temp or cause the light to set. That is for your intercooler and it will periodically need to be filled. Shitty design. It can be fixed by getting option b
OP, if you can, take a picture of where on the car you see the leak coming from and post it here, it will help us out.
If you're adding coolant to the bottle on the drivers side fender, then yes that's engine coolant and the one that triggers the "low coolant" warning on your dash.
There's not much to leak in the front besides the radiator, odds are it's damaged or has the end tank cracking/leaking, if you see coolant under the front of the car. There's just two hoses going to it, the upper one over the supercharger and the lower over the transmission on the other side. Should be fairly easy to see where it's leaking as coolant always leaves a residue stain where it dries up.
Yeah Im not seeing any coolant under the car. Also the actually tank itself doesnt need to be refilled. Could it just possibly be a bad coolant sensor than if it keeps popping up? Also I dont know a whole lot about intercoolers would it be difficult to replace the pump?

if the coolant in the actual res isn't low (driverside by fuse block) and the message comes on the sensor is probably shot. mines been dead for about 2 years now, low coolant always comes on when I start the car up
