Cracked casing?

Was changing the oil of my 05' cobalt LS the other day and noticed something that didn't look quite right.

There is a circular casing to the right of the exhaust manifold when standing in front of the car. It looks like there is a cover that bolts to the left side of this casing, and it seems cracked to me as there is a gap between this cover and the rest of the casing, but I'm honestly not sure. Any idea?

Thanks in advance. (sry for the huge pic)

its the rear trans mount, the piece away from the mount is just to protect the mount from exhaust temps. its not supposed to be connected in any way, besides the bolt that holds it on.
