Cruise Control Button Not Working

Ok, heres one for you guys. My cruise control has recently stopped working, about a week ago. The button on the left of the steering wheel works fine, push it in and the little light comes on, push again light goes out.

The problem is the set button doesnt work. Push it, nothing happens. hold it for a second, the "Cruise Engaged" message flashes and goes away but the cruise control does not engage.

Any ideas before I bring it to the stealership?

try searching theres many threads on this but heres is two things to try. First unplug your negative battery terminal for about 10-15 minutes to reset the PCM. That worked for me and Ive been fine ever since. Second if you rest your foot on the clutch at all it might be making the switch try lifting the clutch pedal up with your foot and then hitting the cruise button. If that doesnt work take it to the dealer.

Mine did the same **** . The dealer has to fix it There is some kind of safety switch that locks out the cruise under the dash. If you ever try to engage your cruise & your foot is on the clutch pedal even just a little bit it will cause this.

Check your brakelights ....Are they on ?
That will kick Cruise off.
If your brake light switch connected to your pedal has moved(it ratchets in place) this will do it.

I haven't had any problems with cruise in this car... it went out twice in my 2.4... kinda sad that this is as major a problem as it is.

A matter of fact I just fixed mine myself. I did not feel like going to the dealer and dropping it in and waiting all day. I just disconnected my negative battery cable and waited almost 30mins. Came back, put the cable back on and it worked. I had to do this twice and its the only thing I'm having problems with on my car. Good luck, hope it works for you. If it keeps happening to me I'm going to the dealer.
