Dash/ Electronics reseting, Help?
Dash/ Electronics reseting, Help?
I have a 06 SS/SC with the GM stage 2, bought new, it has 65k miles on it, and just this last month or so it will occasionally "reset" all the gauges in the dash. The RPM's, Gas, Temp, and speed needles drop to 0, and the dummy lights blink, I get "Power steering" or "Low Fuel" to show up on the DIC, and then it clicks back on and everything goes back to "normal".
Sometimes it does it like 3-4 times in a row, other times only 1-2 times. Once on a long drive it did it 3 times in cycles of 3-5 times.
Usually when it does this now, the Little "lock/Security" light will stay on for the rest of the drive, until I get out and lock it and then unlock it with the FOB. (I've tried turning off and on while still driving, even taking the key out and putting it back in, but I have to be stopped, turn the car off, get out, lock the doors, wait a bit, then unlock, and stick key in the ignition to get rid of the symbol on the dash)
I have aftermarket Audio, but have been over the system now 4 times and have good connections at all locations. During this happening, the radio still plays just fine, no skips or restarts, and as far as I can tell the car still "drives like it should" when this is happening, can steer just fine (but at 50-60 mph you don't really need Power steering) but I can press the gas or breaks and it still does what it should without hesitating or anything strange.
It has not set off a Code yet. :-(
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(I want to say it sounds like a bad ground, but don't know where it would be, maybe the engine bay or the ECM?)

Sounds like the problem is in the dash.
Pull out the head unit and check the wires going across the back of the head unit for shorting on a screw in the dashand as far as you can reach back there towards the I/P.you might of forced a wire into a screw insalling it.
Another thing is to look at the bcm and double check all the connections ,fuses and relays on it are tight.
Did you tap any power off a wire in the dash?if so what color and maybe you need to find a different one.

Use your hand and hit the dash pad above the gauges.
If it resets like you said, there is a loose circuit in the cluster.
If it doesnt reset, possibly wiring issue.
I have a car that does exactly that, needs a cluster.
