diagnos me

Ok, When I go straight, or to the left, my front right tire makes a humming sound. Sounds almost like something is rubbing. BUT, when I turn right, the humming completely goes away. I know its the tires making this noise. It almost sounds like road noise, but its much too loud and certainly all of the sudden, and should never go away when turning a certain direction. Also, I can feel the humming vibrations through all of the pedals, just to give you an idea of the severity.

Give me some ideas as to what it might be.

P.S. I am on eibach sportlines.

try a tire rotation. Then check for fender wear. Vibrations might be warped brakes but that would only be the brake pedal....

thats what i hope it ISNT...but I dont understand or know what, or how, hub bearings work, and/or if they are affected by the direction of the tire.

Mine does that too

It's not the brakes cause I recently had them replaced.

It only makes that noise when I'm doing like 50mph +

I will go with a drive train problem.I dont think a tire problem would do what your saying.
Most likely the wheel bearing, but also could be a cv joint or the shaft that extends out to the drive shaft
on the passanger side from the trans, Im not sure what they call it Any one know.

so if that happens, is that covered under warranty? Or can lowering a car affect the wheel bearing? I cant see that being possible, but who knows.

Yeah sounds like wheel bearing to me. Lowering shouldn't affect it but if the dealership sees that your not technically adept they will try to say that it did affect it so it's not covered. I just called service to ask about lowering my GFs and they said lowering will void waranty on anything that is affected in the suspension

Interesting, I have had a similar thing happen to mine too. But seems to only happen when the wheel is turned to the right. And no its not tire rub.

This started this past week, after I went and drove on the beach!

Like I said, I have it, it's not the brakes or the wheels, I've had the brakes replaced and it does it with my summer wheels too.

The bearing could be the problem, but it doesn't really bother me that much so I don't see any need to replace it

Lowering will cause premature cv failure in some cases because of the angle it is on after the car is lowered.

Check the tire for a broken belt before wasting the time to check bearings. Check the inside and outside sidewall for a bump or dip. Broken belts can cause vibration and depend on location, a change in where the weight is placed on the tire (turning the wheel) can cause it to go away.

broken belt on the tire? These tires are 2000 miles old...i can let go of my wheel at 75 mph and go straight as an arrow so alignment isnt an issue...
