Dimmer Switch

Has anyone had problems with their dimmer switch lever. I turn the hi beams on and sometimes it feels like it goes too far and shuts the headlights OFF! It started the other night... I am closing in on the 36,000 mile mark and am somewhat dismayed. My Cavalier had 205,000+ miles on it on the same dimmer switch...

Just wondering...
