if it was the linkage he wouldnt be able to shift any gear, would he? because with my twm shifter it didnt catch all the way and came out and i had to readjust it and get the linkage snapped all the way together

It is likely that roll pin. Though pull the cup holder out and check to make sure that the cables for the shifter are secured to the floor.

he is right. I will bet u 20 bucks its the roll pin. I had this issue 2 weeks ago. All of a sudden I had a lot of play in the shifter and I lost,2nd,4th, and reverse. My buddy at my dealer who worked on it figured out that the roll pin had snapped in half but half the pin was still stuck in there thats why i had 1st,3rd, and 5th instead of none.lol

well 30 bucks says the other hald of said broken roll pin fell out.lol. But my dealer covered it np. Of course i put the stock shifter on but the roll pin should not snap. Gm used cheap pins in the original lsj's. My buddy at the dealer put a hevier pin it that they can now order for the lsj

not the roll pin if that was the case you wouldnt have ANY gears... and your shifter would do COMPLETE circles like your stirring a stew... literally
