Dont hear the fuel pump

So for you that don't know I am the one who got the barnyard find 2006 cobalt ss/sc with on 19,500 on the odo but despite the low miles it still needs general maintenance.

So changed the oil that was easy. oil was black the car was sitting for awhile and I through a new fuel filter in it too. Man the gunk and garbage that came out of the filter was nasty.

But to my question before when I turn the key I could hear the fuel pump cycle doing its thing and then I would start the car. I do that with all my cars cause I have heard it easier on the pumps. But, after I changed the fuel filter I don't hear the hum anymore from the pump it starts up just fine. Started it and drove it some after fuel filter change. Started it a few times and I don't hear the pump humming at all before start up now.

Was my filter just clogged up so much that the pump was working harder? Is that a sign the pump might be weak? I put a WIX fuel filter in it (My god expensive) 30 bucks but I heard they were near the best to use.

doubt its a bad relay considering the car starts and runs, fuel pumps usually get louder before they die not quieter... so if t her car is runing fine i wouldnt worry about it.
