door rattle

My 2005 'balt has a really annoying rattle coming from the driver's side door. I had the dealership adjust the door latch (found inside the door) about a month ago to make the door seal better. Well the rattling is back even worse now. I'm almost completely positive that the motion of the door latch against the striker in the door jam (it's not the tight fit that is ideal) is the source of the rattle. Worse, I think this is the reason the paint job on the under/inside of the door is going to hell. Guess my question is that I should replace the striker plate assembly bolted in the door jam, yes?

Is this the Audio rattle (100% Volume, Bass and Treble?) or is it doing it without the radio on?

Without the radio. Any bump or deceleration seems to trigger the noise.

There was older posts at one time about the door rattle or squeak and is was about the premature wear of the striker on the door jamb.

Smile

I had the door latch striker (the D-link thing bolted in the door jam) replaced today. The ever annoying rattle is now gone. Ho-ray! I'm so happy.

The part was all of $7.60.
