Driving when accelrates u hear a whistle ss/sc?

Ok i was driving my 2006 cobalt ss/sc to the mall and noticed that when u got on the throttle it whistled like the belt was blowing not the supercharger and i noticed when i reved my car i heard a clicking noise. but this whistle sound only happens when i get on the throttle. What can this be plz help anything u think it maybe what could it be. it only happens at like higher then 4k rpms? this is really confusing and the car doesnt even have 4k miles on it yet! PLZ HELP

I get the whistle too.. It sounds like it's coming from the engine compartment.. When I first heard it I was like when the hell did they put turbos in the Cobalt?? Funny thing is mine is an LT with the sports package (SS clone so to say) which means I most likely have a different motor than you do.. What's weirder is I've been running my AC a lot because of the heat and when I give her a lot of gas I actually hear my air vents whistle along with the engine.. It sounds almost exactly like my friend's Audi when his turbo is kicking in.. I've seen a lot of other threads about this and I wonder what the hell it is.

mine is pretty loud as well, i dont think its anything major, mine has done it since i had the car, and i asked the dealer and he said it wasnt a problem, i think it is the air intake, sounds like a really small turbo right?

I as well have heard the whistle. BUT when I put my Fujita CAI on my car, the whistle got louder and more distinct. It is very possible that it is just your powerful SC sucking air through the filter. As for you with the LS... No idea. As for losing power... I have had times with my SS SC that I have felt as though it had less power... it's very tempremental... sometimes it wants to be powerful, sometimes it doesn't... especially after long trips on the interstate... It seems very less-powerful.

I have a 2006 HHR 2.2L 5 speed and I have the same sound. I had it with the stock intake and I still have it with my ram air set up I made.

Cat problem? Exhaust leak? Maybe even intake leak? I don't know, couldn't really tell from your description. It's at the dealer, that's all that matters. I'm sure they'll fix it.

listen guys im gonna let u on a secret gm doesn't want you to know about. when you take a look at your exhaust manifold, you notice that round cylinder object. it's a stealth turbo that the enginers at GM put on the 2.2. they don't want us to know because it's an economy car. So that wistle is normal, it's just the turbo spooling up to 20psi. jk but i had you going lol

Ok so I'm guessing the whistle is normal.. Stealth turbo - hmmmm - if only GM was that nice. I'd be happy with a paintjob that doesn't chip like a frozen candy bar.

guys, i have a sc, and under very little load at 2100 rpm, i hear i high pitch whistle.
it comes from the passenger side, it isnt the intake, and it isnt the blower noise i hear out of the intake. whistle isnt a right word, more like resonance from a wine glass....crusing thru a park, in first gear, i was putting at 10 mph or so, and ppl were looking. i kept it at 2100, so the noise stood out. lol

Yeah, my LS makes the same whistle right after 4000rpm under load. At first I thought there might be a problem, but I guess that's just how it is then.

BTW the LS (2.2) doesn't have VVT, that's just on the SS's

Hey 06cobaltssOrange!! I have an 06 ss/sc and i am getting a super annoying whistling noise when I get on the throttle around 4500 rpm, I havent noticed any clicking noises as you mentioned though. do you think the CAT could be my problem? also i threw a code P0420 a few months ago that went away on its own which has something to do with 02 sensors/ Cat. Any help would be appreciated as its driving me crazy! i have had the car almost 8 years and people try to tell me its just the supercharger whine which it definitely is not!
