Dying turbo?

Lately it seems like when ever I do a WOT pull a cricket sounding noise is coming from my turbo. Yes, i wait for it to warm up. Coolant was at 181 and i had been driving for about 10min. Put it in 3rd at 65 and punched it. As soon as i hit boost it started making the cricket sound. Let off and it stopped. Got on it and it was back again. Tried it when it was cold and the same thing (yes i know thats not good for it but i wanted to see). Are my turbo's days numbered? Or is it the cold air? I have no idea.

mine made the same noise when it was under 30 degrees and the car wasn't up to temp. Sounded like a small leak.

Haven't heard it since the warm weather hit us.

typically when these turbo's start to die they sound like screaming banshees. High pitched screaming lady of death is what its referred to as.

or the seals go.... then its like the turbo is clubbing a baby seal and baby seal smoke pours out the exhaust.

can you take a video of the sound? and are you sure its coming from the turbo? Noises like this are REALLY hard to diagnose so the more you can display this to us the better we can help you diagnose it.

If its under warranty I would mention it to the dealership so they have it on record, if it breaks down the line, its a documented issue and warranty will be honoured.

I can try but IDK how well it will turn out. Im almost 100% positive its the turbo. It seems to be coming from right were the turbo is. Gonna have to wait til later though, camera's battery is dead. Prolly late tonight. Will definitely take it to the dealer too.

Not a chance. lol Freakin sewing machine under there. Has to be the turbo cause its only when im at almost full boost. part throttle/like 5psi theres nothing. 10+ it starts then gets worse as boost builds.

That was when it was cold. I couldn't get it to do it again once it was warm. Guess it wasnt fully warm at 181 last night. :/

I didn't think the thermostat opened until 190 on these cars . That almost sounds bypass related ...... maybe the bpv is sticking or something along those lines.

Idk it was fairly cold last night. Bout 15degrees. I figured 181 would be good. Thats why i went for a 3rd gear pull. (I was playin with a vette. ) Sounded exactly the same as that video. :/ It doesnt seem like its sticking tho.

I think you have a hole in one of your vacuum lines running to the... **** I can't remember the name but mine did the same thing at one point, just had to have a small part replaced that broke.

It's not the turbo.

Wastegate actuator box? Mine had a bad connection when the car was new so I remember having to pull that box apart.
