tree thank god it didnt touch my bumper. anyways i want to take of my spoiler since its

sticking out like a sore thumb, i went under the trunk and loosened two screws on either side,

they were right under the material that covers the entire trunk. when i tried to pull my spoiler

off it didnt work, what am i doing wrong?

there is adhesive between the deck lid and the wing. You will have to get a straight edge blade and cut away at it to get the wing off

There is something like a tape pretty much holding it on besides the bolts. Heat up each support with a hair dryer for a couple mins then use some fishing line or any fine line and move it underneath so that it goes from one side to the other. That should free it up for ya

Yeah man that must of sucked to be get "why the **** is my over there?" thought for a moment. In vegas, my driveways was at a pretty good incline and I always feared waking up with it in the road or somewhere stupid. At least it was just the bumper though.

that's why you leave it in gear with the tires turned towards the curb when you park on a hill.

oh the things they don't teach in drivers ed anymore

oh... and don't use a freakin straight edge to take off the spoiler... get a couple of friends and have everyone pull on it at once... it'll come off.

Use a heat gun to loosen the adhesive then pull really hard. And yeah...guess you learned your lesson about keeping the car in gear and turning the wheels on a steep hill.

This reminds of the time my roomates STI ran into a tree, lol. For whatever reason he forgot to engage the e-brake and/or put it in gear, and our driveway has a slight rake fowards. Anywho, he went to go out and much to his suprise, his car wasn't parked in plain sight anymore. Rather, it had rolled off the slight paved bank in front of his car and rolled down the hill right into a small tree, lol. The damage wasn't bad. He had to replace his fender, and buff out some scratches from his front bumper, which sucks, but coulda been much worse.

I've never had a problem with mine rolling, and my driveway has a pretty good incline to it. My boyfriend's SS rolled before because he forgot to leave it in gear. But it never left the driveway.

If the hill is that steep, consider keeping wheel chocks with you and chock the wheels when you park it....

Hehehe, the chocks actually came from experience at the track. We do 20-25 minute sessions of open lapping, wide open, so when we're done, the rotors have a nice puplish glow/glaze to them and of course the pads are nice and toasty. Of course everyone needs to leave the engine run because the first thing they tell you is not to shut the car off while the engine is still at race temp. SO....you can't leave it in gear, and setting the ebrake would warp the rotors like nobody's business so you have to leave the car running for a few minutes with the wheels chocked.

Nice info, I'll keep that in mind next time I'm in the canyons or autox!!

My brakes have gotten hot with the Hawk HPS pads/Powerslot Rotors -- enough to make them squeal/scream really badly in the canyons--never got out and checked the color though--got to the base of the mountain and went really easy back home to cool them off

Never any problems here. Only time I ever park in gear is on a steep hill. Never in my home driveway or alot of places around here. Beach FTMFW!

If you look in your owners manual (under the heading "Starting and Operating You Vehicle") GM recommends that when parking your Cobalt to place your transaxle in REVERSE and firmly apply the Park Brake. Had you done thatyou could have avoided this unfortunate incident. Live and learn. Good Luck with the repairs.
