e brake problem

Awhile ago I replaced my passenger side rear caliper due to the spring not releasing the e brake fully. Ever since then my e brake has been really bad. You pull up all the way on it and it doesn't hold well at all. The passenger side pulls out farther than the drivers side. I was working on the car today and found out that with the handle pulled the passenger rear tire will still free spin with no resistance at all. The drivers side is locked solid. Then when you release the handle the passenger cable won't slide back to the released position but the drivers side will. Now with it like this ( handle down, drivers side cable retracted, passenger side cable extended) the passenger side tire is locked and the drivers side tire is free to spin. When I go inside the car I can hit the brakes and the passenger cable retracts back where it should be and both tires are free to spin.

This is confusing the he'll out of me. Anyone have any ideas??

Most likely you require new cables. Although the return springs on the calipers are pretty stoudt, an internally worn or frayed cable will not allow the pb to release.

I had a similar problem I replaced both my rear calipers and the brake would stick and not fully release on the drivers side for me I just replaced both cables and thats mostly solved the problem. Changing the cables is pretty easy tho.

I got the cables from rockauto.com there 10 a piece. Changing them is easy disconnect from the handbrake inside the car. Then on the bottom of the car the cable will pull out of the tubing that routes inside the car. And theres one push clip that holds it in and one blue retainer that you can pull out with the cable and everything else you should be able to get off from the caliper. Ohhh and one 10mm bolt holds it to the hub of that helps

Yeah, my passenger side E brake cable was actually off the catch inside the car. Weird. Reconnected it and didn't have issues. Aside from the warped rear rotors... Since replaced. Good luck!
