Angry Effin Dealership!!

Ok so my Dad bought me the SS emblazed foam heat thingy (Im so mad I cant think what it's called) for under the hood. I take my old one off no problem by hand and place the new one up there. SWEET looks cool. He also got me new plugs cause once you take those plastic thingys out they never go back in quite the same. Anyhow, I put them all in lightly to make sure it fit properly before I pushed them all the way in... the bottom 2 go in no problem, but the top three only went in part way. I never thought anything of it other than the fact that maybe I just wasnt pushing hard enough. So to make my life easier I GENTLY tap them, starting with the left one, with a small hammer. Still not going... wtf... ... I stop, think, then look at the top of my hood... DENT!!! WTF! So I call up my dad and he said the parts guy at the counter said those were the right ones for my car. I took one out and matched it up and sure as **** it's too long and now my hood is fucked! My dad said he even asked him if he wanted the VIN number or whatever to make sure and he said "oh no no no, these are the right ones." Well now Im right pissed. Do I have a case to pitch to that dealership about them getting me a new hood for their f-up??

Sorry to vent, but I'm not impressed.

The thing you are talking about is a hood blanket and i am not sure cause if they asked how you put them in and if you say you pounded them then they will say its on you but hope its not and you can get it fixed

Yeah could you not use your stock ones or did you ruin them when you pulled them out? And just a little info for you on those hood blankets i am thinking of taking my stock one out and leaving it out casue it traps heat on the engine with it gone cooler engine more power

Yeah I found that out too when I put mine on. The ones GM lists for the car are too long, now I didn't think to use a hammer rather I used a pairr of cutters to make them shorter. I know its fucked up but they're gonna tell you its your responcibility to double check fitment before you try to force them.

Check around for paintless dent removal as its a great way to fix your dents without messing up the paint.

the parts guy wasnt the one that shut YOUR hood down on it. he simply got you the part that GM says is right. next time DONT use a hammer and take a bit more time checking the fitment out.

Yea, hes right ^. I hope it works out for you but knowing the stealership there going to ask why you did not match them up first before installing.

I understand its my fault to check the fitment. I guess my point is that when you get "genuine" gm parts from a "genuine" service parts guy, they should just work. We shouldnt have to check the fitment every singe time, especially for something as simple as that.

It didnt dent when I closed the hood, that's not possible, I only tapped them with the hammer I know better than to pound on them. I was just really suprised at the dent that shouldnt be there... oh sigh
