Thumbs up Engine Blew: two pistions got punched

well ****, there was oil all over that engine bay, coverd by warrenty, stage 2 and all. tech said car was running too lean and asked if i was running nitrous and what type of gas, really weird and mundane questions.also he noted that the pistions had holes punched through by the shaft. really weird eh. this is the current of a mass of small problems.one crap transmission, intiror trim, broken shifter, paint flake on rims, front sway bars loosend. this all ads up to a fourth of the time ive had this car it was in the shop. but im still getting a brand new engine with my stage two. wonder if the pcm changes, as in the engine being an 07.

ECM = 32 bit Processing on 07 , 05/06 stuck in stone age 16-bit. Less Memory, they use that stupid secondary air injection in the header and intake, GAY!

well its good to hear that not all dealerships are bad and do honor the warranty when the GM parts are used.

Sucks that it happened though....

dam i wish my dealer would do that
i had my car blow up on me with damage to cylinder 2 and 3 and pistons/rods melted
same as spark plugs ngk -7 that dealer put in and rest of mods are in sig..
and my dealer denied me of warranty and so did GM since i made a case out of it i have a flag on my car and cant take it to another dealer which sucks so i have to come up with like 4-5grand to fix it cause i am not mechnically inclined to do it myself so ya my balt is out for atleats 2months

was the reason they denied your claim because your running a 2.8 pully?

strange.
my dealer told me GM basically doesnt give a crap about what exhaust i want to put on my car because as long as its not applying excess backpressure to the engine it doesnt really hurt anything.

I could see them voiding for a 2.8 easily, but exhaust is a bit harsh.

I have been sitting idly by for a while now on these issues and havent said anything but all you guys blowing engines, trannies, clutches, brakes whatever, why dont you find the lawyer in your city that promises, no fee unless we get you money, and sue the dealer to fix it. Light a fire under the dealerships asses, since it is dealer specific about warrenty, sue to have an outside engineer assess the vehicle, to prove wheter or not the aftermarket part is responsible, as per federal law. That way you all dont have to sit here and bitch about how you wish they would warrenty stuff but dont. Just my 2 cents and not flaming anyone or anything here.

I'd imagine people don't do that becasue that takes a lot of time, and GM has A LOT of money to fight you with, so it almost wouldn't be worth it.

Its Probably The No Cat That Ruined The Exhaust Warranty.

The dealerships are like franchises so they have to deal with legal action against them themselves you wouldnt be suing GM just the dealership and if they bring in one of their district people then you would sue them personall as well. You wouldnt be sueing GM. I can almost guarentee when there are lawyers poking around the dealership its gonna hurt buisness and being that it is a franchise the dealer doesnt want that.

The dealership doesn't warranty the car GM does. Also GM pays the warranty claims not the dealer. Basically you would have to deal with GM, the dealer is only a middle man.

I am also sure that the dealer needs GM to approve large warranty claims. So the dealer doesn't deny the claim, GM does. It's just the dealer that tell you your denied.

its still the point the dealer doesnt want to loose buisness if you go in there with some backing there going to bend over backwards to help you.

sheesh not the first time i've heard about it leaning out...--maybe i'll wait on the pulley. got one on order, but i'll wait to install it. :P

best of luck to you--my dealership is really cool with me, but the place i had to get my oil changed in Wichita Falls, TX was going to void my warranty just to install an anti-sway bar...i was like screw that and took it back here to UT to have it installed. From what I gather, every dealership is different--I"m not sure if they can authorize a warranty issue, nor do I know if it would have to come directly from GM. Either way, sounds like you're getting the bone on that one.

That sucks, but it is good to hear that not everyone is getting screwed when something bad happens with GM Stage 2. That makes me feel better about wanting to purchase GM Stage 2.

Running lean with a 2.8 is common.

If I understand correctly, the 2.8 pulley most likely is the reason his engine blew. Running a 2.8 with GM STG2 is a bad idea. He should have had a custom tune to support the pulley swap! He is lucky his dealership is nice or overlooking the fact!

i think the 2.89 is the smallest you can go safely obviously with a custom tune unless you get bigger injectors

Is the 3.0 pulley in your sig. standard GM STG2 equipment? Just curious.
