Engine FUBAR'D or what?

Well today I get home from work and my brothers like, yo my car is fooked. Well I went outside and we proceeded to take a look at his spark plugs. Well holy ****... THERE WAS A FOOKING EXPLOSION in one of his chambers...

Here are the pics.

He is going to have it towed to Saturn tomorrow, but he has Autolite plugs in it. It appears there is a o ring that is right near where the plugs are that is leaking oil, that went down and hit the spark plug and caused this problem. Is he going to have any warranty woes from having non stock spark plugs in the car if he tows it there tonight?

what do you think about warranty woes? you think its kool to take it there with the autolites in, or could they try to pwn it off on that. I dont think the brand of sparkplugs makes an F'in difference, I think autolite has been arround longer, and find it hard to see them pwn it off on that. Just want a second opinion.

P.S. all he has is Stage 2, intake, exaust header, and high flow cat.... None of thats going to cause this to happen.... right?

I don't see any of those other mods causing that, but just to be safe I'd put the stock plugs back on if possible...

well that 1 plug that is damaged pretty much shattered into pieces in that cylinder. IM pretty sure if we swapped a non exploaded plug in there they would be able to tell pretty easily....

The only thing I think they would try to nail you with is improper installation of the new spark plugs. I somehow doubt they would go that far though. I'd just take it in and hope for the best.

The question here - is that exploded plug damaged to the point where you can't tell if it's aftermarket or not? If so, swap out the other 3...otherwise, as someone else said, cross everything crossable and hope for the best.

yea, 04 redline. I agree, its obvious that the oil leaked into the electrical side of things and cause this to happen. I doubt they would try to nail him for that either. Ill make sure he says he took them to his uncle who is a mechanic and they installed them in a worst case.

Ok lets tell it how it is.

You put in aftermarket plugs. Then you have some sort of explosion and the coil is melted and the plug shattered.

Oh they are gonna blame it on the plugs, probably cause thats what caused it.

Can you not see the oil leaked into where the spark plug is? I dont care what kinda plug it is, if liquid/oil drops into where the electrical current is this is going to happen reguardless of what kinda plug it is.... See how the one that exploaded is all wet? thats oil mang....

oh and those plugs have been in there for MONTHS....

I guess I don't see the oil leak in the pictures.

Good luck with the dealer, they might not even notice the aftermarket plugs. I doubt they keep tabs on what the stocks plugs are for an obsure LSJ engine.

Yeah, just be up front with them, and I'm sure everything will be ok. I don't know why GM would try and get tough with the warranties because you know when they made these cars they knew that they were going to be driven hard.

Oil does not conduct electricity but if enough was in the hole it might be able to create more resistance and heat it up until it exlpodes. I've never seen this before.

Those are the things that are connected to the plugs, lol. No spark plug wires, Just weird plastic tubes w/ their own coils.
