I just got back from the dealership after getting my oil changed....I hopped in and they didnt reset the oil life...this was my first oil change so I wasnt sure how this worked...and also my engine light was on...So i drove home short drive and none of that changed...I figured out how to reset the oil life so it is 100% now but I still have the engine light.. Anyone have any ideas? thanks.

Hard to say without knowing what the code is. Take it back to the dealer and have them fix it!

 

Is there a way I can find out the code without going to the dealer?

 

Go to an auto parts store ( Advance auto parts does it for free but they may not be in Canada) And buy an OBD II code reader. They are about $100.

 

Autozone does free scanning as well. Why would you not want to go back to the dealer?

Additionally, even if the light goes out, STILL go get it read. The code is still there and it can help to identify possible issues.
